San Diego Old Town Old Town is a great place to stay and enjoy the outdoors
San Diego's most loved destination will help you celebrate life and make it unforgettable. Old Town is within walking range of the major transit centre, offering access to buses, trains, taxis and trolleys. You can also park free of charge. Old Town houses over thirty restaurants. They have great patios and offer a charming atmosphere. Plus, there are 75 different places to shop. The State Park is adjacent to this historic district, which has 32 historical buildings and sites.
You can pick up the Old Town San Diego Guide magazine at your hotel or visitor center. It provides information about Old Town attractions, restaurants, shopping and the 10 hotels that are located in and close to Old Town. Most Restaurants are open from 9AM to 9PM, however it is best to call. Below is a directory of all restaurants with contact numbers. Old Town restaurants and venues are privately operated so hours will vary.
While most museums are closed in Plaza, the grassy area where the flag is displayed, there are still many things to do. Fiesta de Reyes in the State Park's north corner is open. There are 19 shops here and three restaurants.
Old Town houses many haunted places, such as the Historic State Park and Campo Santo Cemetery. Ask the locals about the legends, and they will tell you!

Voted Best Mexican Restaurant, Cafe Coyote has been a San Diego favorite for over 30 years! Friendly staff, tasty Mexican food, and refreshing margaritas make this a great place to visit. It is located in Old Town San Diego's Historic Walking District. You will be tempted to visit all of our restaurants, but this is the one you should include on your wish list. Some restaurants will take a while to open, but they are worth it.

Old Town San Diego is open for business
OLD TOWN, San Diego's historical heart is home to the oldest part of San Diego. Old Town San Diego was created in 1769. The first California settlement, it consisted only of a mission fort and a church.
Wander through lush gardens or browse at one of the many specialty shops for treasures from around the world. Enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine at any of the restaurants, or enjoy dancing to the mariachis. It is a good idea to take some time to stop and reflect on the Fiesta de Reyes or Bazaar del Mundo fountains. Also, you can plan an entire day of visiting the numerous historical sites. Visit a haunted house and then spend the day exploring one of the museums. Old Town offers food, folklore and entertainment all year. Visit Old Town, celebrate San Diego's heritage, and bask in early California ambiance.
Old Town San Diego State Historic Park is in the center of Old Town. The rich and varied living history programs allow visitors to experience Mexican-American life in the 1821-1872 period. See forms in action at blacksmith shops and woodworker workshops, or read an old newspaper dating back to the 19th century.
Old Town San Diego is located in San Diego's heart. It is where Interstate 5 meets Interstate 8. Old Town is just across the street from the San Diego Trolley Old Town Transit Center, across the freeway from the Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) and a short drive from most San Diego destinations.

Haunted Past
Old Town Pizza & Brewing was built right above Portland's notorious Shanghai tunnels. These are the same tunnels used by kidnapped sailors in early 1900s. You can book a tour and discover Portland's rich history, as well as the legacy of Old Town.
