What Does Delivered To Agent Mean Usps In 2022? (+ Other Faqs)
What is Delivered to Agent in the USPS 2022 Catalog?
The phrase “Delivered To Agent For Final Delivery” means that your USPS mail carrier put the package in the hands of someone else – another resident at your home, a doorman, a coworker even – to give to you. The package is then placed in the hands of “delivery agents”, which are responsible for completing delivery.
What’s a USPS delivery agent?
Even though the name sounds ominous it can also be called a delivery agent for Postal Service.
This could include a front desk worker, your child’s roommate, or a coworker.
Often, Postal carriers won’t be making someone a delivery agent if they don’t look reasonably trustworthy.
However, errors do sometimes happen. You can file a complaint at your local Post Office to report someone who was not designated as a delivery agent.
How do you deal with a USPS package that was delivered to an agent?
Follow your USPS tracking to see if your package shows a notice saying “Delivered To Agency For Final Delivery.” Don’t panic.
That, plus the address where it was delivered, should help you figure out who you should talk to.
Text your friends and family to check if it was delivered.
Contact the office immediately if it reached your address.
If your package wasn’t delivered in the mail, please contact your nearest Post Office. They will be able to help you track it down.
What Happens When Your USPS Packet Says It Has Been Delivered to Agent But Wasn’t?
You don’t need to panic if your “Delivered to Agent” box arrives at home and you find no package.
First of all, the person living in your household could have received it, put it somewhere, and forgotten about it.
Therefore, talk to everyone in the delivery location, work or home, to jog people’s memories.
Then, if they’re adamant nothing got delivered, give it an extra business day.
You may need to wait a little longer, as postal workers could and do view themselves as delivery agents.
If the shift ends and nobody is available to take delivery, the carrier will scan the package before putting it on the truck.
You would then see the “Delivered TO Agent” message and can expect to receive the parcel the following day.
But if it takes more than a week before you receive your parcel, it is worth calling the Post Office in order to make a claim online and have them start searching.
What does it mean when USPS says picked up by shipping agent?
This agent can be referred to as another third party provider. However, the process described in this article is quite different.
“Picked up by Shipping Agent” can be used to return parcels using USPS Parcel Return Service.

USPS marking your parcel as “DeliveredTo Agent For Final Deliver” simply means someone has received your package and is authorized to deliver it.
However, if you cannot find your package, give it at least one business day; beyond that, you can reach out to your local Post Office and file a missing package claim.
