The United States Postal Service provides the most efficient shipping services for an organization this large and that is of sufficient size. But security should be taken into consideration.
Alcohol, firearms, and drugs are all prohibited. The Postal Service has to be diligent in keeping these items out of its system.
That begs the following question: Does USPS scan packages You’re likely very interested in the following answer.
Is the USPS going to scan packages in 2022?
While the United States Postal Service may scan certain packages, on the entire, this is an inexact process. In some cases, postal workers may be alerted to a suspicious package, which then gets singled out. Furthermore, package that is going to or from major metropolitan areas may be more likely to get scanned.
Why is USPS scanning packages?
I would guess that for as long as the Postal Service has existed, criminal elements have tried to use it for their nefarious deeds.
Unwitting, innocent citizens can also send dangerous items to others.
The USPS is required to scan and x-ray all packages in order to protect both the public’s health and our safety.
It would be amazing if every day people sent loaded firearms to each other or poorly packed cases of glass alcohol bottles.
The scanning adds an extra layer of security to the USPS, beyond their legal restrictions, which are effective in deterring most but not all.
Specially-trained inspectors, who are part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, lead the pack inspection industry. Postal Inspection Service.
The investigators have the expertise to find everything: illegal narcotics and mail fraud, identity theft and money laundering.
Does USPS Scan Packages For Drugs?
USPS might scan the drug packages if it is suspicious.
It is a crime to mail drugs including heroin and marijuana, even if you live in a decriminalized state. Prescription drugs are also prohibited.
Even if you are able to fill a prescription, it is not enough for you to be able mail the medication.
You can be sure that the distinctive rattle of pills inside a container is something any postman would suspect.
Do not discount the danger of catastrophe that may be awaiting you. One Quora member shared how a marijuana box he was processing broke open while he processed it.
The box can be taped (which may look suspicious) or it could fall apart.
Can the USPS know if I send alcohol?
While it’s unlikely that USPS will find out if your shipment contains alcohol, there are no guarantees that they will.
If you want to ship glass bottles especially, the sound may tip off a skilled postal worker.
You also run the risk of breakage or spillage, which would make your transgression immediately noticeable (and you immediately guilty of a felony).
However, let’s say that you are shipping something that is not alcohol, but you are using a box that alcohol was previously housed in.
You must make sure that all indications of alcohol are covered on your packaging. This includes words such as “wine” and “vodka” along with any images like wine glasses.
However, let’s assume you wish to ship alcohol. FedEx and UPS are both options.
The shipping carrier must be registered to ship alcohol.
Are You able to Write “Do not Xray” On Your USPS Package?
While you may write “Do Not X-Ray”, it will create the opposite effect.
It is more likely than not that USPS will mark your package suspiciously and proceed to X-Ray it faster.
Sending something USPS includes X-Raying/Scanning.
Do not ship any illegal items, but you want to be discreet.
You can’t avoid USPS scanning your packages if you hand deliver them to the door.
What is suspicious about a USPS package?
USPS gives a helpful list of possible suspicious traits that you should be aware. Here’s a brief summary:

What is the USPS’s policy on Open Packages
The Fourth Amendment reads as follows:
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
Without a warrant, the USPS cannot legally open First-Class mail and packages.
Xraying is able to provide probable cause. They would see evidence of a weapon, or a bottle containing alcohol, and they would be able to obtain a search warrant.
It is important to remember that according to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service FAQ sheet: First-class mail is not protected under the Fourth Amendment.
Other classes do not require a warrant (because they “do not contain private correspondence”) and can be opened at USPS’s discretion.
Our posts about USPS services include what is a USPS refund receipt, USPS’s insurance policy, and USPS package coverage.
Although random scanning is possible by the USPS, this happens more often in metropolitan areas and for suspicious packages.
The Fourth Amendment protects First-Class mail from being opened without warrant, but the penalty of mailing prohibited articles is a crime is too high.
Why Does My Package Not Go Through Transit in 2022
