Costco has been a valuable hub for shopping, and members can select from several membership levels that are most suitable to their needs.
But what about the perks that come with their highest-level Executive Membership–do customers benefit from different hours to shop? What I found was more about Executive memberships.
As of 2022, Costco no longer offers exclusive shopping times to its Executive Members. This used to be a perk for members of that tier, but the practice seems to have been discontinued slowly from many stores since 2015.
Do Executive Members Get In Early At Costco?
Gold Star and Executive members had access to the shop one hour earlier than Gold Star, which gave them more shopping time with far fewer customers.
Sadly, this is no longer the case as all Costco members, regardless of membership tier, are allowed into the store at opening time–10:00 a.m. on weekdays and Sundays, and 9:30 a.m. on Saturdays.
Many warehouses are open for business at the advertised time.
This is not the case in all locations. However, doors may still be shut until their posted opening times.
What’s Costco’s Executive Membership?
Costco offers the Executive Membership, which is the top tier among all membership options.
For an additional $60, members can upgrade to the Executive Membership. This brings the total cost of an executive membership to $120.
Costco’s executive membership benefits:
Customers who upgrade to the Executive Member get certain perks other members do’t.
While the extra hour of shopping time is no longer available, these members receive the following:
Special Discounts for Executive Members – Additional savings on services: Auto servicing, insurance and real estate programs, as well as roadside assistance.
Additional Discounts and Exclusive Offers
You get 2% cash back on the majority of your purchases. There are some exceptions like alcohol or tobacco. To make this perk cover the $60 extra that you paid for this tier, you will need to spend at least $3,000 per year, which is quite normal for a family’s groceries and home supplies.

Costco was once able to give Executive members access to the stores an hour before other members.
Are Costco’s Business Hours Open to Members?
Costco Business Centers open earlier than Costco Warehouses. You can find us Monday-Friday from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday between 7 a.m.-4 p.m.
Does A Costco Executive Membership Expire?
Your membership remains active for the duration of your next renewal month. Stop by any Costco store to find out more. Log in or Register by clicking Sign In to access your Costco.com account.
