Does Fedex Take Usps? (Returns, Packages, Boxes + More)
FedEx (USPS), UPS – All three shipping companies share many similarities. They all offer competitive rates, numerous locations and can deliver from coast to shore.
FedEx, the United States Postal Service and FedEx are actually more than rivals. Since 2001, they have collaborated on different services.
FedEx and USPS have a long-standing partnership. Below is the answer.
FedEx To Take USPS By 2022
FedEx and USPS share no shipping duties outside of their contract agreement. FedEx does occasionally manage USPS mailings that end up in its custody. FedEx is more likely to hold USPS mail and allow them to pick it up. They cannot however be used in the same way as they do.
FedEx and USPS Connections
FedEx and USPS are in a partnership that causes confusion as to whether FedEx accepts USPS.
This partnership was in place in 2001, when FedEx won the contract with USPS that gave the latter access to the former’s domestic and international air fleet.
FedEx received access to the wide range of local delivery services offered by the Postal Service in exchange.
Did you realize that USPS must deliver all U.S. addresses regardless of the weather, road condition, or other factors?
FedEx might find that appealing, having made FedEx’s Rural Access the crux for their SmartPost service.
However, in March 2021, FedEx stopped its SmartPost service and dropped this part of its partnership with USPS.
Is it possible to accidentally place a USPS package in FedEx Dropbox?
FedEx does not have to deliver USPS packages that were accidentally dropped into FedEx dropboxes.
FedEx can deliver packages in anecdotal instances.
Other likely outcomes are:
It doesn’t matter what, FedEx won’t just throw away boxes that find their way to the wrong shipper.
You should still not consider FedEx or USPS interchangeable shippers.
FedEx Can Send You A Return to the USPS
But there’s a catch: make sure you put your returns in FedEx dropboxes. These were back then, when FedEx Smartpost and USPS collaborated.
Smartpost no longer functions as FedEx discontinued their partnership with Smartpost and rebranded FedEx Ground Economy as their local delivery.
It means that the SmartPost hubs which were last places where packages could be delivered before they were transferred to USPS have been lost.
So it’s very likely that USPS returns can no longer be returned via FedEx, or the returns will take much longer, because FedEx has to turn the parcel over to USPS a different way.
FedEx will deliver USPS boxes?
Do you have a USPS address that you could use to ship FedEx parcels?
So long as USPS vestiges, such as labels or addresses, have been removed or covered, then yes.
FedEx might treat your USPS parcel like an actual FedEx shipment.
SurvivalFreedom.com states that there is no. According to some anecdotal evidence I have found – maybe, under very special circumstances.
FedEx may not be able to deliver USPS-ordered shipments, but that is what I believe the best assumption. The two services may be shared, but they operate in their own ways.
It’s illegal for any person other than the resident to insert anything into the mailbox at any address.
FedEx drivers are unlikely to commit federal crimes frequently.
Mix-ups can happen, but if you try to treat FedEx and USPS as interchangeable companies, you will end up sorely disappointed.
FedEx Will Deliver a USPS Label
FedEx most likely will not deliver a package with a USPS label.
FedEx is an organization with a bottom-line – they won’t make money working for the Postal Service.
FedEx will deliver the package via USPS. This is best.

FedEx is not known to be able to accept USPS mailpieces. There are however anecdotal reports.
Most confusion about the apparent interchangeability between the two shippers likely comes from the fact that they are still partners.
Fedex Can I Return a Usps Packet?
Drop off your packages at one of the 63,000+ locations. U.S. Tender options for the U.S. Postal Service Customers can drop off their return package at their local post office or postal collection box, or even leave it in their mailbox or on their front porch.
Fedex can use usps packaging
It is not legally allowed to use a USPS box for FedEx and could result in problems for your shipment. Even so, it is technically possible by adding a FedEx shipping label. Use a FedEx box if you decide to use it. Make sure that you include all USPS markings and old barcodes.
Fedex may send you an Usps packet.
Yes. The package will be delivered to the USPS and FedEx will pick it up. FedEx will sometimes be delivered by the local FedEx Office.
Fedex will accept what type of boxes
If boxes are unassailable and sturdy with all flaps intact you may reuse your packaging. For chipboard boxes (e.g. gift, shoe, etc.), you must place them in a corrugated outside box. You can use double-wall packaging for larger items.
