Is Mint Mobile A Good Carrier?
(Image credit: Mint Mobile) Currently, Mint Mobile takes the 5th position in our guide to the best phone carriers . This is quite an impressive position considering that Mint Mobile was founded in 2015. We rank it highly because of this. It all comes down to affordability. Overall, the best Mint Mobile plans have some of the lowest monthly rates, especially when you pay upfront. Mint Mobile plans are more attractive than AT&T Verizon. Secondly, Mint utilizes the T-Mobile network for coverage. T-Mobile is an excellent phone provider and one of the most reliable networks. Mint gets an advantage because it has access to the T Mobile 5G network. That assumes your 5G phone is the right one. Mint connects to whatever cellular signal LTE, or 5G is stronger in your area. T-Mobile may slow down mint traffic if it encounters too much congestion. And Mint plans aren’t as fully featured as T-Mobile’s or as generous with families. Mint continues to be a popular choice among those with tight budgets, however. Finally, Mint faces stiff competition from the likes of Visible, Xfinity Mobile, and Google Fi. Visible and Xfinity Mobile have unique features that make them stand out, such as their $40/mo unlimited plans or Fi’s prorated fees. Even Xfinity Mobile, owned by Comcast, offers some appealing benefits like a $45/mo Unlimited plan. Mint can offer many great benefits for those who are prepared to invest, however, Mint also has other equally excellent MVNOs offering more traditional billing cycles.
What is Mint Mobile’s Pricing Model?

Mint provides a seven day money back guarantee, which is something that Mint doesn’t promote too strongly. Mint offers a seven-day cancellation policy. Mint will reimburse 100% of purchase price, taxes included.
Mint will offer a 3-month trial period to you when you first sign up. You get three months for Mint’s lowest prices. When the period ends, you will be able to change your plan’s length. This can be three, six or 12 months and as we explained above, the longer you sign up, the better the price will be.
You should note that once you set up a plan, the length can not be changed. Second, your payment for the plan is one-time and not per month.
In other words, you will pay $90 for an introductory unlimited data rate and then $360 for 12 month unlimited data. While not the most convenient payment system, it is still very cheap over the long haul.

Recap: Is Mint Mobile Good?
Mint Mobile is known for offering some of most affordable unlimited data plans. Your data speeds and coverage can vary, but your price will stay the same. Mint Mobile is a great choice for those who value the second more than the first.
Mint Mobile Plans include Unlimited Data. Your data caps will vary between plans. A higher-tier plan will give you faster speeds.
Mint Mobile covers the entire country using T-Mobile’s network. It is the largest and most trusted in the nation. But because Mint Mobile is an MVNO, its users will be deprioritized for T-Mobile users. Translation: your coverage and data speeds are prone to fluctuation.
Mint Mobile is an excellent prepaid mobile phone service provider. You’ll never have to worry about paying for data overages or running out of data. Your data’s slowdown is the only worry.

What other alternatives should I look at to Mint Mobile
When it comes to great-value prepaid plans, we would probably name Visible Wireless the main competition to Mint Mobile. Visible has only one plan: an unlimited plan. What it doesn’t have is unlimited data, but it does offer a variety of plans. It also uses Verizon 5G and can get as low as $25 per mo. While normally priced at $40 a month, if you bundle your plan together with three other Visible customers via the Party Pay system (like a pseudo ‘family plan’) you’ll pay just $25 a month. While this is an incredible value, it’s important to note that Mint runs under T-Mobile and Verizon networks.
For a straight-up alternative to Mint Mobile that uses the same T-Mobile infrastructure for its service, you’ll want to check out Metro. T-Mobile is the prepaid carrier. It offers several more options for people on a tight budget, starting at $40 per monthly for the 10GB plan. Metro’s plans offer a lot more than Mint with benefits like streaming service subscriptions free of charge and the general feeling that they are somewhat more premium. Unlike Mint Mobile, Metro’s unlimited data plan doesn’t feature any soft data caps, although coming in at $60 a month makes it a much costlier option.
AT&T’s prepaid service could be a good option for you if you don’t mind buying in bulk. It starts at $25 per monthly for an 8GB plan, if the 12-month plan is purchased. You will however have to sacrifice 5G internet access. That’s a real bummer in our eyes, but if you do happen to get the best service with AT&T in your area, it’s definitely a stronger option if you’re on a budget than the traditional postpaid plans.

6. What is Mint Mobile’s Customer Service like?
Mint Mobile doesn’t own physical stores, so it can maintain its pricing low. Mint Mobile is not able to provide in-person support for customers who rely on it.
On the other hand, customer service is available by phone, chat and email for those who need it.
Mint Mobile is easy to set up, even for those who are switching from a high-cost provider. A colorful activation pack with instruction will be included when you signup.
Mint has videos that can help you activate and transfer your numbers or request one.
If you need further assistance, the redesigned Mint app is the place to go. Chat support and customer service are available from there.
The app is also the best place to monitor your data usage. You can take a look here:
Since Mint Mobile’s plans have high-speed data limits, the app will help you see how much data is remaining for the month and when your data renews.
Mint Mobile Prices and Availability
Mint Mobile is a mobile prepaid operator that sells its service in segments of 3, 6, or 12 months. Monthly prices will drop the longer you are willing to spend. All plans include unlimited text, talk, and data. You can also call Canada or Mexico from anywhere in the world. Your average monthly data use will determine which plan you select. You have the option of choosing between 4GB-10GB or 15GB. An unlimited plan, which includes 35GB high-speed data and 5GB mobile hotspot data is available if you feel you have more data than you can handle.
4GB 5GB 10GB 15GB Unlimited
$35/month for three months ($45), $20/mo. ($60) $25/mo. ($75) $25/mo. ($90)
Three months $35/mo. ($75) $35/mo. ($105) $40/mo. ($135) $45/mo. ($120)
6-months $20/mo. ($120) $25/mo. ($150) 35/mo. ($210 – $35/mo. ($210)
$12/mo. 12 Months ($180) $20/mo. ($240), $25/mo. ($300), $30/mo. ($360).
If you want to enjoy the best pricing per month, we recommend that your renewal period be as long as it takes. New customers who choose 4GB plans will pay $45, $15, or $5 per month. The plan renewal process allows you to decide whether the contract will run for three, six, and twelve months. A 12-month renewal for the same price will result as three-months of the original plan. However, the entire $180 will be required at one time.
Which Mint Phone Plan Should I Buy?
If you are unsure of how long to buy, it is best that you start with only three. Mint Mobile’s first three months can be used for half the monthly price of 12 months. Not only that, this will help you dial in how much data you’ll need before committing long term.
Starting with three months, you can renew with 12 months and lock in the introductory rate. Mint Mobile will work well for you. This is the best way to go. It can be canceled at anytime if Mint Mobile is not performing for you.
You are looking for a family package? Mint Family is a Mint Mobile feature which allows you to manage five accounts. Mint Family isn’t a plan for families so join one instead. This feature allows one person to manage and pay for all of the plans. Each line may have its own plan. This allows you to ensure that every member is able to get the best deal possible without overbuying.
