Does Usps Deliver On Saturday? (First Class, Priority + More)
While there may be some limitations in the United States Postal Service’s ability to deliver mail, it works well and is very reachable.
Since 1923, the USPS, its carriers, have been the foundation of U.S. communications. They’ve survived the storms and snowstorms and endured the heatwaves.
But does USPS deliver on Saturday? What if you don’t have a Saturday to deliver your package, bill, or letter? Let’s find out what to expect.
Will the USPS deliver on Saturday in 2022
Since its founding in 1863, Saturday delivery has been a standard for the United States Postal Service. U.S. households can expect First Class, Priority Mail, and Priority Mail Express to be delivered on Saturdays, with the exception of holidays. USPS Saturday mail delivery is available at no additional cost to the sender.
Does USPS Deliver First Class Mail On Saturday?
Although First Class mail has a high reputation, it is really what we consider to be “normal mail”. You will get it with one or two stamps.
Second Class mail is delivered Saturdays, but not Sundays.
USPS’s website boasts that Saturday mail delivery has been an option since 1863.
Yes, mail carriers are still on the road one day per Saturday, transporting your letters, bills, as well as (unfortunately) junk mail in business-size boxes.
What Saturday is Priority Mail Delivered by the USPS?
Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail Express, and Priority Mail Express can both be delivered on Saturdays. There is no additional charge for the shipper.
These types of mail are shipped within 1 to 2 or 3 days. Instead of using stamps, the rate is calculated by weight.
But again, that rate is for the Priority (i.e., faster/trackable/guaranteed) shipping, not for the Saturday delivery.
Is There a Post Office That is Open Saturdays?
USPS considers Saturday a business day. This means that you can get First Class, Priority, Priority Express, and USPS Retail ground mail.
If your shipping day is on Saturday, it won’t matter if you pay any extra as it’s a weekend.
You will need to pay the usual postage for any service, even First Class or “regular” mail without a stamp.
For example, you don’t have to pay extra if your flat-rate Priority Mail Express overnight envelope arrives on Saturday.
The flat rate of $26.35 would be paid in this instance, along with any usual additional fees (e.g., delivery). You also get a Saturday delivery guarantee.
This is in contrast with Priority Mail Express that you would like to reach its destination on a Sunday.
For an additional $12.50, a guaranteed Sunday delivery will be added to whatever original cost you have (flat rate + any additional costs).
Even though Saturdays fall on a weekend, there are no additional fees. At the USPS, it’s business as usual.
How Soon Can You Await Mail Delivery Saturday?
For many people, you can expect your Saturday mail delivery around the same time that you receive mail the rest of the week.
This is between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
If you have sent or are planning to receive something shipped overnight Priority or Priority Express on a Friday, it should reach its destination by 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
Mail may arrive later due to weather and accidents along the highway.
Additionally, you might not receive your letters or packages shipped First Class until as late as 6:30 p.m. – or in truly rare circumstances, even later than that.
If you mailed something Priority Express on a Friday and it did not reach the destination by 3 p.m. Saturday, you can actually get your money back.
Priority Express overnight rates guarantee overnight service.
Can USPS deliver mail Saturday night?
USPS could deliver mail on a Saturday night, if necessary due to exceptional circumstances.
Although you may not receive Saturday mail by 8 p.m. every day, there is always the possibility that someone has to deliver it that night, maybe once in a while.
But delivery times as late as 6:30 p.m. are not out of the ordinary, depending on your location.
What happens if the USPS doesn’t deliver mail on Saturdays?
USPS normally delivers mail on Saturdays, but Saturdays are not business days.
It does occur, however, and it is because a bank holiday falls on a Saturday.
You will not be able to receive mail on Christmas or Fourth of July.
For those sending out mail, your recipient will not receive their card or package until the next business day.
This could be on the Tuesday following a Monday observed holiday.
But, it doesn’t matter if something must be delivered to someone on a Saturday.
USPS provides special Holiday Delivery, such as Sunday delivery. This is only available with Priority Express shipping.
Holiday delivery will be delivered on the same Sunday as regular delivery. The additional cost for holiday delivery is $12.50.
