Build A Global Navigation Menu
A website's global navigation holds the most important links in your online store. These links indicate to visitors the pages that you consider most important. These links allow visitors to easily reach specific pages (e.g., product, collection or sale). Your global navigation links are important for SEO. They tell search engines which pages on your website are the most important.
These are some of the most common types of navigational links:
Single-bar navigation The links are all in one place and have a limited number of clicks.
Double-bar navigation You will see primary and secondary links in the navigation bar. These links are stackable above one another.
Dropdown navigation. Designed so when a user hovers over the navigation link, a list of links dropdown.
You can also include footer menus in the navigation of your store. Shoppers will probably look at your footer menu to find contact and policy information.

Go Fish Digital has noticed a trend in which more clients are using Shopify. Although we thought it was a random coincidence, the data shows that this is not so.
Since October 2017. Shopify has been used by 3.16% of top 10,000 sites, and 2.2% for the top 100,000.
As Shopify has worked with many Shopify sites, we decided to share some of our methods for helping our clients improve their SEO. This guide will show you some of the common SEO adjustments that we make for Shopify shops.
What's shopify seo?
Shopify's SEO refers simply to making SEO improvements on Shopify that are unique than those of other sites. Shopify stores have many useful SEO features, including a blog, the ability of redirecting, and it can lead to SEO issues like duplicate content. The most commonly used Shopify SEO guidelines are:
Remove duplicate URLs from internal linking architecture
Remove duplicate paginated URLs
Write blog content that combines informational and keyword intent
Add Product, Article and Breadcrumb. Add structured data
Decide how to handle product variation pages
Get rid of unnecessary Shopify apps
Duplicate Content
In terms of SEO, duplicate content is the highest priority issue we've seen created by Shopify. Duplicate content refers to duplicate or similar content found at different URLs. Such a situation can pose problems for search engines, as they might not know which of these pages is the most authoritative. Link signals can also be split among pages.
Shopify can create duplicate content in many ways.
Duplicate product pages
You can duplicate pages from different collections by using pagination
Duplicate Product pages
Shopify creates the issue in their product pages. Shopify stores default allows their product pages to be rendered at two different URL addresses.
Canonical URL Path /products/
Non-canonical URL path: /collections/. */products/
Shopify accounts for this by ensuring that all /collections/. */products/pages include a Canonical Tag to the associated page. The URL displayed in the address does not match the "canonical field".
While this certainly helps Google consolidate the duplicate content, a more alarming issue occurs when you look at the internal linking structure. Shopify defaults to linking to non-canonical versions of every product page.
As well, we've also seen Shopify link to the non-canonical versions of URLs when websites utilize "swatch" internal links that point to other color variants.
Shopify makes your entire site structure around noncanonical links automatically. The website sending conflicting signals to Google is a major SEO concern.
Products Variant Pages
We think this technically extends Shopify's duplicate content. However, because it isn't always an issue with SEO, we decided to create a separate section.
Shopify shops often have multiple product URLs created for the exact same product. As the product's core is often the same as before, only the attribute that has changed (e.g. color) can be altered, duplicate content may result. It is possible to have multiple pages with identical product descriptions or images. You can see an example here of duplicate pages that are created by variants:
If this is left to its own devices, it can create duplicate content. But variant URLs need not be a SEO problem. These URLs could even be beneficial to some sites, as you can have optimized indexable pages designed for very particular keywords. Whether or not these are beneficial is going to differ on every site. Here are some questions that you need to answer:
Are your customers able to perform query based upon variant phrases?
Do you have the resources to create unique content for all of your product variants?
Does this content have enough uniqueness to be considered a stand-alone?
Jenny Halasz wrote an excellent guide to deciding the best way to handle product variations. Shopify can contain product variants. It is worth checking whether these pages need to be at their own URL. If they do, you will need to create content unique for each variant and optimise it for the target keywords.
