It is now easy and convenient to send or receive mail with the United States Postal Service.
An extension of the federal government’s executive branch, USPS offers affordable prices on all kind of shipping, from standard size letters to 70-lb. parcels.
But does USPS print labels for their customers? Or do you need a printer at home? This is what you need.

Customers can use the United States Postal Service’s shipping label generator to create their own labels and have them printed at-store for free. This service allows customers who do not own a printer to print labels. It is also available for entrepreneurs and owners of small businesses/ecommerce shops. USPS does not charge shipping charges for printing labels.
Is USPS allowed to print labels for free?
The USPS prints shipping labels free of charge, but it’s worth noting that only the printing service is included and not the shipping label.
Let’s get back to the beginning.
Only recently, the U.S. Postal Service has announced the merger of their Label Broker program and Click-N-Ship.
Click-N–Ship is a feature that customers can use to order shipping labels online.
USPS claimed that it was addressing an issue many Americans face, namely the lack of printer access.
They remarked that with more people working from home, the glaring lack of printing access needed to be addressed.
This integration allows small business owners as well their customers easy access to shipping label information when needed.
You must purchase the shipping labels, which will be charged according to the weight of the packages. The printing service offered by USPS is free.
Label Broker allows customers to return their merchandise free of charge to eCommerce shop owners who have in mind or wish to do so.
What’s the USPS label broker?
USPS Label Broker allows customers to have easy, convenient access for shipping labels even when they don’t have printers at home.
If you don’t own a printer, this service can help you purchase shipping labels. Then have them printed at no cost.
It is particularly useful for eCommerce store and small-business owners, who may sell products that require return or additional shipping.
Label Broker will work in tandem with USPS’s Other Service, Click-NShip.
According to the USPS website, Label Broker can be applied as the printing option after the label transaction has been completed.
Print your labels will appear on the page. The last option is to print the labels at the Post Office. Select that and enter your email address.
USPS will automatically send a QR-code to your email. Small business owners can also forward the code to customers if required (or directly email).
Either they or you may take the code with them to the Post Office Counter. The postal worker will scan and then print the label free of charge.
It must then be affixed to the package and collected for mailing. It is not possible to take the label with you.
Which Labels Can The USPS Print?
USPS will print whatever types of labels their Click-N-Ship service supports.
It includes Priority Mail Express (Priority Mail Express), Priority Mail International Express, Priority Mail Express Express, Priority Mail International Express and Global Express Guaranteed.
Be aware that, because you are (or your customer is) printing the USPS label in the post office, they must affix the label onto the package there.
You cannot use the Label Broker function to print at the postoffice and bring the label home.
Be sure to remind your customers to bring the package to the USPS Post Office.
Where Can You Print A Prepaid Shipping Label At USPS?
You will need to verify that your local post office supports Label Broker.
This can be done here using the USPS.com locator tool.
A list of local post offices will be displayed near your location when you enter it. Click the button to expand and see all available services.
If Label Broker supports the store, it will appear under the “Services available at this Location”, as can be seen below.
It appears that label brokers are a common feature at post offices.
If you are in a small town that has only one post office, it is possible to expand your search by up to 100 miles.
What if the USPS prints a shipping label right from my smartphone?
There are two options for getting your Label Broker-generated QR Code into a postal office to be printed.
This is the easiest way. This is all that’s required to scan and print the QR code.
But, you may also print a copy of the QR Code.
It might seem strange, but aren’t these things printed simply because you don’t own a printer?
As paradoxical as it sounds, perhaps you ran out of packing tape to affix the label at home, or you have bad handwriting that makes the USPS puzzle over your intended destination.
Whatever the reason, USPS will likely count on everyone bringing their QR code to Label Broker with them on their cellphones.
