Manitoba Children's Museum

History
The museum was founded in 1983. It opened its first exhibit, a grain elevator and train, at 370 square feet (34 m2) on 21 June 1986 to 65000 visitors the year after. The space doubled when it expanded from three permanent galleries: Making Sense gallery which explores how things work; Grain Elevator and Train that looks into transport methods for farmers throughout Manitoba’s history;and Big Top where circus memorabilia is exhibited. In 1994 plans were initiated to move the museum after getting $4 million of donations which funded our new home located near an old CNR repair shop called Kinsmen Building by Northern Pacific Railway or Winnipeg Beach Station as locals call it now The Manitoba Museum was originally established in 1983 with their first exhibition The museum was founded in 1983.
It opened its first exhibit in a 4,000 square feet (370 m2) warehouse on 21 June 1986. The museum boasted three permanent galleries: the Grain Elevator and Train, Making Sense and The Big Top, and drew 65 thousand visitors the first year alone- an impressive feat for such a young organization! The next few years were even more fruitful–the total visitor count doubled to 131 thousand at 1988's end thanks to increased space provided by moving into one of Edmonton’s oldest industrial buildings from 1898 with two acres of outdoor grounds complete with elk paddock as well! In 1989 plans were initiated to move the museum again but this time it would be up north where they could grow without
Activities
The Manitoba Children's Museum is a treasure trove of learning and fun, open to children ages six months through twelve years old. The museum incorporates permanent galleries where kids will be able to enjoy the milking machine as well as climb over various displays while exploring their imagination in an interactive way. There are 12 permanent galleries including: The Engine House with exhibits on how machines work; Illusion Tunnel which takes visitors from one exhibit space into another without ever leaving it; Junction 9161-a meadow surrounded by three mountain peaks that also has its own vegetable garden for harvesting edible fruits and vegetables throughout the season (July 1 – October 31); Lasagna Lookout where you can make your very own lasagna sandwich out of ingredients like tomato sauce, ricotta cheese, The Children's Museum in Manitoba is a great place to visit with children. With 12 permanent galleries and interactive activities, they will have plenty of learning fun! The museum features many exhibits such as milk machine where kids can learn about dairy farming or the Engine House which has an assortment of hands-on displays that teach science through play.
There are also two rides for thrill seekers: one inside space and another outside under water – both featuring scenery from around the world
Galleries
Current museum galleries include: the historic Eaton's fairytale vignette display, which is open seasonally from mid-November to early January. The artifact has been fully restored and relocated from the ninth floor annex of downtown store. The 15 vignettes includes classics such as Cinderella, Humpty Dumpty and Three Blind Mice Once you've enjoyed these captivating displays be sure stop by our Live Wire area where we broadcast live interviews on a regular basis with some pretty amazing people! Growing up the Eaton's department store was an integral part of my life in Toronto. It wasn't just a place to buy clothes, it also had this amazing fairytale vignette display that I loved visiting every Christmas season when Santa visited and read me stories by The Coca-Cola Company on their giant screen TV!
