Shopify Payments fees are charged when you offer multiple currency sales.
Shopify Payments fee
Shopify Payments is a fee that you pay to process a payment. This fee depends on the type of credit card that is used (for example, the fee for a VISA card can sometimes be different from the fee for an American Express card) and the location where the credit card is registered:
Payment processing fees (Domestic). These charges are used to charge credit card companies that originate in the same nation as you.
Payment processing fees (Cross-border) – This is the cost for credit card transactions in countries other than yours.
Conversion Fee and Rate
A currency conversion is when you receive payment in a different currency than your payout currency. A currency conversion fee is charged for the currency you convert to your payout currency.
Exchange rate for currencies – Market rate at which one foreign currency can be converted into another. This conversion rate doesn't come with a cost. It is a midmarket rate and does not incur any markup. For example, a conversion rate of USD/EUR means that $1 USD is exchanged for EUR0.87 EUR.
Currency conversion fee – The fee that Shopify charges to convert currencies when you capture a payment. The currency conversion fees and credit cards fees don't go back to you when you issue your refund. You're only charged an additional fee for a refund. This conversion fee will be based on where your store is located.
1.5% In the USA
Shopify Payments allows you to save 2% in any other country or region.
On your pay details, the currency converter rate and fees are listed. Once the currency conversion fee is calculated, it will be added to your customer's purchase price. You must pay conversion fees if you manually set the currency rate. It is possible to set the manual currency rate higher, so the customer will pay the conversion fee.
