The Templates Overview

Squarespace templates aren't only beautiful; users also admired the quality of its features.
Squarespace template provided me with a stunning website design and all features that I needed to succeed. As part of your monthly subscription, all templates can be viewed and edited for free.
Squarespace templates were designed to accent visual elements. This is what most creatives who we spoke to appreciated.

It frees me up so that I am able to work on what's important." Photographer Jeff Johnson created his portfolio website with Squarespace because of its simple editor and visually engaging templates.
You can browse templates by category and industry if you like. Each template features layouts and features that match its industry. But you can also easily change the design or features of any template.

Pagecloud Website Builder
We reviewed PageCloud's website builder. It costs $26 per month ($18 per calendar year, billed annually), and allows you to make a sale with a 3% transaction fee. Squarespace offers the $30 per-month ($26/month, billed annually), Basic Commerce plan. This plan removes the transaction fee as well as the Advanced Commerce plan. These rates compare well with 1&1's entry-level price. Website ($9.99 per month), Jimdo ($7.50 per month), Weebly ($8 per month), and Wix ($10 per month).
The price includes website hosting , with unlimited storage and monthly data transfers. If you choose to pay annually, you get one-year domain registration free. Additionally, you can link a domain already owned to your Squarespace-built website. The price of domain registrations increases depending on what URL you choose. It is mandatory that all monthly subscribers pay the domain pricing right away.
Optional Interface and Web-Design Designs
Squarespace asks you for a template to be chosen, as it does with almost every other site builder. Squarespace wants to know about your site's focus. They offer a list of predetermined categories such as Marketing, Music, Food, Gaming and Marketing. Your site goals can be set by you, like showcasing your art, blogging about it, or selling products. The next step asks you where you are in your site creation process, ranging from "Collecting Inspiration" to replacing your existing site with a Squarespace iteration. Then you'll be taken to a curated set of template options.
Squarespace provides dozens of options with attractive backgrounds. Many also offer scrolling interfaces. Each template is tagged with categories, such as Blog, Art & Design, or Media & Podcast, that let you filter your search options. Each template is also available for preview before you begin the creation or editing.
Again, all Squarespace 7.1 templates share the same capabilities, including feature and style options. You should consider your selected template design as a starting point, because you can now customize everything. Squarespace removed the ability to swap templates between versions 7.1 and 7.0. You can however switch templates within 7.0. You won't regret if your preference is to customise your site manually. But, those who only want to see a different website design will regret 7.1's inability of changing templates.
Gator, our Editors' Choice choice for website builders allows you to quickly switch between different templates.
Like the pages Squarespace designs, its editing interface is one of the most elegant things around, though perhaps not the most intuitive. Pre-designed templates will create a homepage for your site. You will see a sidebar to the right that contains many settings. Pages allows you create new pages and customize your main navigation. Design lets your modify the style of your website and makes custom CSS. Commerce gives you the ability to set up an online storefront. There's also an assistant that pops up on the left site of the window for first-time users, guiding you through the creation process.
The side menu panel allows you to add pages. There are many options (depending on the template), such as Album, Blank Page or Blog, Cover Page, Events and Folder. The navigation allows you to drag and drop pages, however, they cannot be moved onto another page for subordinate navigation. For nested navigation you will have to use Folder.
There are prefab page layouts for things like About, Contact, and Team pages look great, and you may not need to modify their layouts at all. To edit a layout, you simply need to double-click on the page, which takes you into the edit mode. Here, page sections and editable elements have blue highlights and text denoting what type of element they are. This isn't intuitive as you can add sections easily, but it's slightly harder to see how to add elements. Hover over any existing element and click "plus" to activate the blue icon. Squarespace has a steep learning curve. A bug was also encountered where Squarespace forced us to edit mode and prevented us accessing the side bar navigation. The issue was fixed by reloading the page.
Images for Work
Squarespace lets you edit uploaded photos online. It allows you to change brightness, contrast, crop, as well as alter their color. You can also search for and preview Getty Images stock photos on your website, as well as buy licensing. We found the $10 licensing fee for our test images to be very reasonable. Squarespace has a storage area for your uploaded images, which can be used elsewhere on the site. It also offers Getty Images gallery and other image options.
A gallery can be added to any page. You also have the option to add it to a page. The gallery will inherit your design. There are no adjustments to its appearance. These galleries are available in a variety of formats, including slideshows and grids. Although you can adjust the spacing, other sites builders don't offer the same level of control. This enforces good design, but at the cost of creativity.
Building A Mobile Website
Squarespace automatically generates a mobile site from the site you built for desktop browsers. Squarespace mobile sites are great because of its templates that limit the number and size of objects.
Mobile Information Bar, the one-and-only mobile option is available. You'll see the Mobile Information Bar menu on the bottom right of your mobile site. The view shows contact, location and business hours if these have been turned on. Squarespace shows buttons along the top of the editing interface that let you preview your site as it would appear on a smartphone and smartphone-sized mobile device.
