Pros: Classic looking irons with big forgiveness and hot faces that add distance through the set.
Pros: While the polished chrome look is great inside the bag, it might not be as bright as some people who use them at their address.
Bottom Line: These irons offer game-improvement-like performance hidden deep inside a classic, compact design. Speed. Pocket with Thru. Slot Technology produces a slightly quicker and more consistent ball speed across the face, leading to greater distance even when mishits are made. Although the SLDR Irons are cast, their sound and feel don’t interfere with the game.

Taylormade Sldr Irons Review
TaylorMade has been SLR-ing all things within their product range. So it was only natural that the irons would be in the mix.
Many people mistakenly believe that SLDR stands for “slider”, which is an acronym. However, they cannot use it as a branding name because someone else owns the right to it. That was clever marketing as the original SLDR driver had a sliding weight in the sole of the club.
SLDR was more of a brand than a name. The SLDR fairways SLDR mixed cars were released without taking any money out of your pocket.
We now have the SLDR Irons that, in addition to sliding the cash, can also slide across the turf. These irons are also going to be bought by the golfing public.
Visually they stand out in the current range from the matt silver finish of the TaylorMade Tour Preferred Irons TaylorMade Speedblade Irons because they have a shiny chrome finish, which looks pretty good.
If you’re looking to experience this yourself, you might have to go to the TaylorMade Tuned Performance Centre as it is the only way to get them.
So I headed along to Kingsfield near Linlithgow in central Scotland for the full fitting experience and to understand what sets these irons apart from the others in the TaylorMade range.

Taylormade Speedblade Irons – “Game Improvement Irons”,
Yes. Any irons that make it easier for a beginner to hit consistently with more forgiveness can be called game improvement irons. The Speed. Blade irons with their Speed Pocket technology certainly will help with ball flight and launch angle.
Speed Pocket on Taylor is the perfect solution for those mid-to–high handicappers that hit their iron shots thinly or too low. Made Speedblades is intended to remedy this.
Taylormade has also promised to manage distance gaps or create a greater gap between each number of clubs. That sounds extremely promising – no more hitting your 7-iron 150 yards, your 8-iron 140, and your 9-iron 20 yards shorter.
Speed. Blades come in a 2-tone satin nickel plating and can be purchased with graphite or steel shafts As of today’s writing, you can find a used set of 3-through-PW, for the $200-$300 range – this includes a Sand Wedge and an “approach” wedge, marked A, with a loft between the pitching and sand wedges.
What does the Taylormade Speedblades’ “Speed Pocket” mean?
Speed Pocket is an insole of mid-irons and long that has a shape similar to a bar handle. This slot allows for more club face flexibility, rebound at impact and flex.
Hitting the sweet spot of the Speed Pocket helps the face to flex and allows for greater ball speed and a high launch.
See more TaylorMade Speedblade Review. According to all reports, the Speed. A blade is longer at the tee. Most players agree that the Irons are at least one club longer than their last set. This makes the Irons ideal for parksland courses. Parkland course shots are more difficult due to the need for a longer iron.
Speedblade positive reviews also mention the attractive appearance and confidence that Speedblade delivers at your address.
But, some golfers disagree. Blade irons Review, pronounced the clubs dead on impact and panning for the line-drive portion of the shot.
On teed shots such as approaches to Par 3 holes, strikes near the top of the head have resulted in weird ball flight and an uncomfortable feel, probably due to the low-end weighting of the heads.
But, that being said, every swing is different. Iron-shotters who hit the irons too high in their faces are likely to be unfit for this set, while players with a more balanced swing will probably enjoy it.
